SAM JONES, JR. was born on December 22,
1917 to the late Sam Jones, Sr. and Mary Madison
Jones.
At an early age he joined Old Hammond Grove
Baptist Church. On August 5, 1934, he was
united in Holy Matrimony to SADIE ANDERSON.
SAM had a burning desire to own his own
business. He started with one cow and from that
modest beginning evolved JONES DAIRY. He sold
varied dairy products including milk, butter and
eggs to thousands of customers thoughout
Augusta, North Augusta and Aiken. SAM was known
for the delivery of fresh products and friendly
customer service. SAM was blessed to have a
devoted wife who worked side-by-side with him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sadie
Anderson Jones; one son Sam (Rachael) Jones,
III; six daughters, Roberta (Matthew) Jenkins,
Long Beach, Calif., Carrie Hinton, New York,
Mary Carrington, West Palm Beach, Fla., Barbara
Westbrook, North Augusta, Clara Jones and
Patricia (James) Crawford, Des Moines, Iowa; one
sister, Barbara Holmes; one brother, Mirlyn
Hall; twenty-four grandchildren, sixteen great-
grandchildren; four nephews, Rube Hankerson,
Jr. ,.Eldridge Hankerson, Jerry Hankerson, Merlyn
Jones; four nieces, Mamie Jones, Dorothy Harris,
Catherine Williams and Carrie Emanuel; one
sister-in-law, Clara Jones; two brothers-in-law,
Montgomery Anderson and Rube Hankerson, Sr. and
a host of other relatives and friends.
