The Life of Eddie "Rat" Jones
Eddie Lee Jones was born on November 6,1952, to the
late Orrin and Carrie Williams Jones in Waynesboro,
Georgia. Eddie Jones entered into eternal rest on
January 3, 2018 at the Burke Medical Center.
Eddie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized
at Phillip Grove Baptist Church in Waynesboro, GA.
Eddie attended the Burke County Public School
System, Home of the Purple Hurricanes.
Eddie was employed by Plant Vogtle, and Burke
Manufacturing. After years of industrial labor, Eddie
began working with his late brother, Seaborn Jones in
the lawn care industry. Upon his brothers passing he
continued his career as a landscaper until his health
diminished. His love for the outdoors was visible
amongst the lawn on the family property; he was
adamant about ensuring the yard was well-kept in the
midst of his illness.
Eddie's favorite pastime was watching television. He
loved to watch football and western television shows.
Eddie was well-known in the community; he will be
especially remembered by his friends and family by his
smile and witness.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter;
Annilya (Kenneth) Ellison of Hephzibah, GA; one
sister; Louise V. Lodge of Waynesboro, GA; two
brothers, Willie Norman, Waynesboro, GA and Robert
(Denise) Jones, Dublin, GA; two grandchildren; Ian and
Emory Ellison; and a loving and devoted companion.
Crystal Poole of Palm Coast, FL
Eddie loved his family; he was fond of all his nieces and
nephews. He always treated them as if they were his
own. His right hand man and go to person was his
nephew, Barry (Emma) Jones, whenever he needed
anything he could count on him. His other nieces and
nephews were all also very active in his life and have
their own individual memories of their Uncle Rat; his
remaining nephews are Genet Holiday, Louis Lodge,
Stacy (Jennifer), Tarvey, Shawn, Seigfried , Jerry, and
Antrell Jones. His nieces: Kathryn (Melvin), Sandra,
Marilyn, Rolanda, Carmen, Cherry, and Kelli Jones. In
addition to a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives and friends who will treasure their time
with him.

A Poem to My Uncle Eddie
I knew little that God was going to call your
name, in life 1 loved you dearly, in death, I will
do the same. It broke my heart to lose you, you
did not go alone. For part of me went with you,
the day God called you home. You left peaceful
memories, your love is still my guide, and
though 1 cannot see you, you are always at my
side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing
seems the same, but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
Love Your Niece, Carmen
To My Brother Eddie,
1 love you, God knows how sad I am without
you by my side, 1 feel that I have lost my best
friend. Although, you are no longer with me
physically, but here in spirit and love. There is
a vacancy within me that will never be the
same. As 1 have endured, loneliness, heartache
and shed tears. I will always cherish memories
of the one 1 love so dear.
Your sleep will be a long and well-earned rest;
you are gone, rest well. Eddie your family
flame will forever bum; from Heaven, you
came and to Heaven you will return.
