Mrs. Rita Gibson Jennings was bom November 9, 1942. She was
the oldest of ten children bom to Lozell and Hattie Gibson. She
entered into rest on September 10, 1995 at University Hospital.
Rita was united in marriage to the late Deacon Joshua Jennings.
To this union one child was bom Jacqueline Olivia Jennings. Mrs.
Jennings, a native of Mitchell, GA, had lived in Augusta for 35
years. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church. There she was
an active member until her death.
Rita is survived by a loving family; one daughter, Jacqueline
Olivia Jennings; two Goddaughters, Faigcmn Letoi Hanker son and
Ebony Faith Caldwell; a mother, Mrs. Hattie Gibson; a brother,
Kelly Gibson of Atlanta, GA; seven sisters, Evelyn Gibson of
Augusta GA.; Marilyn Young of Delaware; Lola Hillman of
Warrenton, GA; Delores Gibson of Atlanta, GA; Gwinnette
Kendrick of Sparta, GA; Mildred Fowler of Decatur GA, and
Vanda Jaggard of Lithonia, GA. Three sisters-in-law; Mrs.
Catherine Johnson, of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Annie Mae Jackson
and Mrs. Carrie B. Morse of Augusta, GA.; Four brothers-in-law;
Mr. Lacy Jennings of Philadelphia, PA.; Mr James Jennings and
Mr Leon Jennings of Augusta, GA.; Mr. Bert Jennings of Los
Angles, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special
friends.
