The Obituary
The Reverend Elizabeth E. Holmes
April 3, 1912 June 10, 1993
The Reverend Elizabeth E. Holmes was born to the parents of Mr.
and Mrs. Ruffin (Nannie) Johnson on April 3, 1912, Chatham County,
Goldston, North Carolina.
It was early in life that she was converted. She entered into holy
matrimony with the late Reverend George W. Holmes on April 16,
1938.
Reverend Holmes, A Minister of the People, served all area
churches. Although she was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist
Church, she regularly attended the following churches: Cumming
Grove, Elim, Greater Mt. Canaan, and Rock of Ages.
To have known Reverend Holmes was to know one wholetall that was
within her Praise His Holy Name! Her prayes were fervent, and her
testimonies were earnest. She was spiritually motivated, and
frequently gave personal testimonies that demonstrated Gods
goodness, and her love for Him.
She was a joy to be around, humorous, and an inspiration to many.
Certainly, she has touched numerous lives, and her legacy will remain
for years to come.
Reverend Holmes leaves to cherish her fend memories, two loving and
devoted sisters, Mrs. Cladie Johnson and Mrs. Grace Lineberry; one
nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah (Sheila Jones) Lineberry,
Charleston, West Virginia; two god-children, Mrs. Joyce A. Murray
and Mrs. Angela Sheppard, Augusta, Georgia; other nieces, cousins,
relatives and many loving friends, too numerous to name.
