(Mrs. (Etfief Qifeert
On February 19, 2004, God in His all wise wisdom and providence called to eternal rest His
faithful follower, Ethel Wells Qilbert.
She was the daughter of the late Berry and Mary Wells. She was born in Edgefield County, South
Carolina. Preceding her in death were seven sisters: Susie Tompkins, Carrie Ryan, Bertha Elim, Sister
Wells, Althar Garrett, Mary Burrows, and Ella Bosman and four brothers, James, Jacob, Alvin and Clint
Wells.
She attended the public schools of Richmond County, Georgia and during her early childhood
united with the Palmer Grove Baptist Church. She held membership in several organizations of the
church. She served dutifully, faithfully, and remained a faithful member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church
until her health prevented her from regular attendance, but she still supported the Church however she
could.
She met and later married the late Roney Gilbert. To his union five children were born. Preced-
ing her in death were four children; Sophronia G. Greenlee, Thelma G. McNeal, Carswell S. Gilbert, Sr.
and Bernice Gilbert.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and a child of God. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and sewing.
She liked beautiful clothes and especially stylish hats. She was an excellent homemaker. She was active
in her community and was loved by many who knew her, but God loved her best.

Pm At Peace
I am at peace, I am at rest
My Lord and Savior knew
Just what was best.
I will suffer no longer,
For I am in His care
In the great beyond
And waiting to meet you there.
Remember me in your heart.
And wipe away your tears
This is only a temporary so long
Not a permanent good-bye.
I am at peace.
I Remember Mother
I remember when I was a child, Mother blessed me with a smile. Words of kindness she spoke to me gave me a feeling of
bebnging to be. Mother sent me to a public school, where I learned the rules. She took me to Sunday School to learn to
keep the Golden Rule. Side by side we walked a dusty road to church. She taught me how to pray, by giving thanks to
God everyday. We prayed each night, Lord lay me down to sleep is what we said. She taught me how to be kind. She
taught me never to steal if it wasnt yours, do not take for any sake. Mother loved the church. She supported its cause.
She always gave a helping hand in her community. She let her light shine both day and night. Like Christ, she led the way.
Mother slipped away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Room 106. God sent his Angel to take Mother in. Thank you Mother, for
all you have done to show me the way of the Father and the Son. The same way, we will meet again - In the heavenly
home so bright and fair. ~ Louise Screen
