Obituary
**Katie wrote her obituary in 1968 and requested that everything be
carried out as written. Her motto was Jesus Is The Best Thing That Ever
Happened To Me. All family members are to wear light colors, NO
BLACK; her casket solid white; her dress red to represent the blood of
Jesus; her corsage white to represent body of Jesus; an abundance of red
and white flowers; and her bible open to I Corinthians 13th Chapter.
Mrs. Katie Mae Bailey Gallop of 931 Spruce Street, Augusta,
Georgia departed this life March 1, 1992 at the Dwight David
Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia.
She was born April 15,1931 in Augusta, Georgia to Robert Bailey,
Sr. and Lillie M. Bailey.
Mrs. Gallop was a graduate of A.R. Johnson High School Class of
1949. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the Practical
Nurses Association.
At the age of thirteen, she joined the Bethel A.M.E. Church on
April 13, 1945 and was a member of the Missionary Society.
Cherishing beautiful memories are her survivors which include
her husband, Mr. Wilbert L. Gallop, Sr.; four daughters, Mrs. Janice L.
Henderson, Mrs. Joetta L. Johnson, Mrs. Jacqueline Brayboy and Ms.
Gloria M. Gallop; three sons, Mr. Wilbert L. Gallop, Jr., Mr. Carlton E.
Gallop, Alabama and Mr. Bruce Gallop, Waynesboro, Ga.; devoted
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Lillie) Bailey, Sr.; three sisters, Mrs.
Ethel B. Aldridge, Mrs. Barbara B. Williams and Mrs. Dorothy
McCrary; one brother, Mr. Robert Bailey, Jr., all of Augusta, Ga.; four
grandchildren, Miss Dozetta Johnson, Miss Domique Johnson, Mr.
Rudy Gallop and Mr. Damien Brayboy; one aunt, Mrs. Ethel Dix,
Brooklyn, N.Y.; three uncles, Mr. Ossie Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
(Fiffine) Harris and Mr. Bob Harris all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons-in-
law, Mr. Dozier Johnson and Herbert Brayboy, III; daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Tracy Gallop all of Augusta, Ga.; five brothers-in-law, Mr. A.G.
Aldridge, Mr. Charlie M. Williams both of Augusta, Ga., Mr. Alfred
H. Gallop, Jr., Virginia, Mr. William Me Gallop, New York and Mr.
Johnnie N. Gallop, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sandra Bailey,
Mrs. Pauline Jones, Greensboro, N.C. and Mrs. W. Pocahontas G. Ivey,
Mamie, N.C.; devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives
and friends.
