The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me
BESIDE THE STILL WATERS. He RESTORES MY SOUL; He LEADS ME IN THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HlS NAMES
SAKE. Yea, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL; FOR YOU ARE
with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of
my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow
me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. - Psalm 23
MR. DARRYL KENNETH ELLISON, a native Georgian, was born January 4,
1961, to Floyd (predeceased) and Mattie Ellison, Sr.
At an early age, he accepted the Lord as his Savior, and he joined Mount Vernon
Baptist Church. His favorite scripture was Psalm 23, which he memorized as a
child he learned from his father. He relocated to Woodbridge, Virginia and joined
Mount Olive Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Clyde W.
Ellis Jr., and later, upon returning to his hometown of Augusta, Georgia he united
with Fairview Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
Chuck Smallwood.
He was a graduate of Thomas Walter Josey High School, class of 1978. Upon
completion, he relocated to Woodbridge, Virginia to work for the District of
Columbia Department of Corrections in Washington, D.C. for twenty-three
years, and he achieved the rank of Sergeant, Grade DS 09.
While he was on his career path, he met Towanda Danita Ellison (predeceased),
and they were united in holy matrimony in 1988. They built a life in Woodbridge,
VA and were the parents of two loving daughters, Devon and LaPria.
He enjoyed hosting family gatherings and was known to the family as the grill
master. His favorite pastimes included fishing, shopping, and fashion. He was an
avid Dallas Cowboys fan and had a love for children.
He is predeceased by; father, Floyd Ellison, Sr.; brothers, Floyd Ellison Jr., Steven
Lewis, Isaac Burns, and Jerry Lewis Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Mrs. Mattie Ellison, Augusta,
