Obituary
Mrs. Jerryfytt Qriffrn WaOigr <Dent, a native of Augusta, Georgia, died on Tuesday,
January 16,2001, at her home. Approaching her ninety-third birthday, she was bom on February 13,1908.
Mrs. Dent was bom a graduate of Haines Normal and Industrial Institute and worked diligently as a member of the
Victory Drive Committee and the Alumni Association.
She was a retired business executive, having worked at Homsby-McCoy Realty Company. She moved to an
administrative position with The Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company, where she worked until her retirement.
As a dedicated member of Trinity C. M. E. Church, she supported the church programs as planned by the pastors
and the governing bodies. The White Rose Circle was the recipient of her interest, time and help. She was also a
member of Neighbors United. Her religious concerns led her to become involved with helping the unnoticed
children of Augusta. She, with one or two others, organized the Womens CivicClub, which still functions today with
its original purpose and motto - For the Welfare of Augustas Children and Deeds, not Words.
Mrs. Dent leaves to mourn: Godchildren, Mrs. Jerri Thomas Fishman, Southfield, Michigan; Myron Isaac Jenkins,
Alpharetta, Georgia and Goseboro B. (G B.) Hannan III, Augusta, Georgia; nieces-in-law, Pamela Dent Brathwaite,
Bloomfield, Connecticut; Yvonne Dent Carver, Augusta, Georgia and Lillian Dent Harley, Chicago, Illinois; nephews-
in-law; Dr. Benjamin J. Dent, Rev. Dr. R. A. Dent, Dr. William L. Dent and John Dent, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;
and many loving friends
