God didnt promise days without pain,
L.^hter without sorrow or sun without rain.
But God did promise strength for the day,
t for the tears and a light for the way. And
V
ALL WHO BELIEVE IN HIS KINGDOM OF LOVE,
E ANSWERS THEIR, FAITH WITH PEACE FROM ABOVE.
Rats.'.
There is no need for tears.
I AM AT PEACE; MY SOUL IS AT REST.
There is no pain; I suffer not,
For with your love I was so blessed.
Im in a place of comfort;
The fear is now all gone.
Put those things out of your thoughts.
In your memory, I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath,
Remember not the strife;
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

Early on the morning of February 17, 1925, Marguerite Tutt Davis officially enrolled in the school
of life. The eldest of five children born to the late Mr. Judson and Frances G. Tutt, Marguerite was
affectionately called Marg by her family and later M.T. by her friends and colleagues. Marguerite,
possessing a natural desire for knowledge, coupled with ambition and determination, excelled in her
studies. Her early education began in the Richmond County Public School System. She graduated
from high school at Paine College where she also went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts Degree.
She continued her education receiving a Master of Arts Degree from New York University in 1967.
Marguerites Christian education began early in childhood at the Cumming Grove Baptist Church.
On July 2, 1950, Marguerite married Richard Davis and the couple united in Christian fellowship with
the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Several years later this union was blessed with one beautiful daughter,
Regina Anita Davis. During her ministry years at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Marguerite served on
the Board of Trustees, The Red Rose Auxiliary, Culinary Arts Ministry, Church Women United, and
The Mothers Board. Marguerite remained a faithful and devoted member until her health declined. I
Marguerite began her professional career as a high school educator. Her zeal for her students extended
beyond the classroom. She served as the first female business manager in Richmond County. She was an
avid football and basketball fan. She faithfully supported both Lucy Laney and Glenn Hill High Schools.
She had many diverse interests which were shown through her commitment and involvement with varied
professional, civic, and charitable organizations. She was a member of The Retired Teachers Association,
The Frugalites Social Club, and was a founding member of the Rosa T. Beard Debutante Society.
Marguerites Masonic accomplishments for The Prince Hall Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern
Stars Jurisdiction of Georgia was limitless. She was a member of Lucy Laney Chapter #20. She was a Past
Matron and Treasurer for Lucy Laney Chapter #20 for thirty years. She was a Past Grand Treasurer for
fifteen years and a Life Member of The Order of the Eastern Stars with more than fifty years of service. She
contributed to the Wilhemina H. Parris Most Ancient Grand Court Heroines of Jericho as the first Vice
Ancient Matron to the original court of Lewis Penrose Bohler Court #12 which was established March 19,
1994, in Augusta, Georgia. The John A. Robinson Senior Most Royal Grand Court of Cyrene Crusaders
Jurisdiction of Georgia, PHA organized and chartered the Cyrene Crusaders Court #1 in Augusta, Georgia
on January 14, 2006. On September 23,2006, the court was re-named as Marguerite T. Davis Court #1 in her
honor. Marguerite T. Davis was the first Grand State Grand Assembly Loyal Lady Ruler of the Jurisdiction
of Georgia Order of the Golden Circle. She was a charter member of Katie Lamar Assembly#28, Order of the
Golden Circle, Augusta, Georgia.
Marguerite never met a stranger and was full of love and life. Her friends and loved ones enjoyed her quick
wit and candid honesty. Marguerites baking skills were legendary. She and her husband graciously opened
their hearts and their home to many young people who loved and appreciated them as mom and dad. On
Oct 23, 2018, Marguerite completed the final chapter of lifes lessons.
Those who are left to cherish her memories are: her devoted husband of sixty-eight years, Richard S. Davis;
loving daughter, Regina D. Martin; son-in-law, Derwin V. Martin; grandchildren, Karis A. Gibson and
Earnest C. Gibson; sisters, Laura T. Blount, Salome T. Hankinson and Frances T. Alexander; sisters-in-
law, Mildred Davis, Annie Rivers and Alberta Jenkins; aunt, Mariel Tutt; godchildren, Barry Barnes, Cheryl
Freeman, Monica Stallings and Carmelita Freeman; adopted children, Yvonne F. Johnson, Ava F. Jones,
Cordelia Williams, Cornelia Hardy and Doris B. Lyles; eighteen nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives
and friends.
NO ONE CAN COMPARE TO THAT OF A MOTHER
Caring, devoted - there is no other.
A love so divine, you really truly cared
Unselfishly, you gave,
Your kindness you shared.
We love you dearly, one and all
When we needed you near,
You heard our call.
You were a song in the midst of our heart,
Now TODAY WE GRIEVE AS YOU NOW DEPART.
Your memories will forever linger on
We know youll never
Leave us here all alone.
You are forever with God up above,
We will forever cherish
Our Dear Mothers Love.
