Obituary
Bro. Beotis Clark, Sr. entered into rest on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Augusta University. Although
the family did everything they could do to relieve his pain and to keep him here with them, it was God's
will that he should go home and be with the Lord. He was born on October 10, 1928 in Roanoke,
Alabama, to the late Charlie Clark and Louella Baker.
Beotis received Christ at an early age at Hunters Chapel A.M.E. Church in Roanoke, Alabama. As a
young adult he moved to Augusta, where He united with Bethel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of
Rev. A.J. Harris. He was a devoted member of Bethel, where he served as pro-tern under several pastors
and as a member of the male chorus. He was a dedicated Lay President on the local and state levels of
A.M.E. Church, and organized the 1st conference banquet and it has continued to be a successful
fellowship fundraiser. He served several years as president of the Sons of Allen. In other church
engagements, his spiritual leadership was exemplified in the Health Guild and the Chancellor Choir. He
also was a delegate on the state and national levels to all of the above organizations.
He was a faithful member of the Turpin Hill Neighborhood Association Improvement Committee
(This group negotiated with City Hall for paved streets, water lines and street lights in the Turpin Hill
Neighborhood). He was also on the committee to build the Carrie J. Mays Center for youth and Senior
Citizens. Although his civic and community involvement activities were numerous, he provided dedicated
assistance.
He retired from the V.A. Hospital after 32 years of service as a Nursing Assistant. He was elected
president of the A.F.G.E. A.F.L. C.I.O. Local Union No. 217. He was a member of Banneker Lodge #3 and
Lebanon Consistory No. 28.
Beotis was a gifted and talented musician. He played saxophone for several local and National
Bands. He had the opportunity to play with James Brown, Mickey Murray, and Little Richard. Beotis was
also an avid fisherman and hunter. He took his family and friends on their first boat ride at Clarks Hill on
weekend and holidays. This adventurous activity was a highlight in the lives of his family.
His cherished legacy is carried on by a devoted wife of 62 years, Belle S. Clark, one son, Rev. Beotis
(Estella) Clark, Jr., one daughter Doris (Rodney) Ford of Little Rock, Ark., Five grandchildren Ricardo
(Kristi) Wise, Mahoganey (Waylon) Franklin, Walter (Ladonnia) Brown, Isaac Brown all of Little Rock, Ark.,
Ominique Bailey and eight great grandchildren, a loving mother-in-law, Annie M. Saxon. A special thanks
to his devoted nieces and nephews Kareem Saxon, Janice Webb, Brenda Stockton, Vauhgn Williams,
Charlotte Frierson, and Linda (Doug) Scott and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A special
thanks to his caretaker Leroy Jackson for your dedication and service. Also special thanks to MCG,
Augusta University, and Dr. Joseph Hobbs and staff.

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile
And for my sake and in His name
Live on and do all things the same
Feed not your loneliness on empty days
But fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near
And never, never be afraid to die
For I am waiting for you in the Sky!
LOVE ALWAYS,
Daddy
