On January 30, 2021, God saw fit to give wings to His
beloved and devoted soldier, Deacon Walter Edward
Bennett, Jr.
Walter was born October 29, 1951 to Walter, Sr. and
Lessie Mae Bennett in Augusta, GA. He was educated in
the Richmond County School System, and graduated from
John M. Tutt High School in 19G9. He furthered his
education at Paine College, Augusta, GA. Walter held
several positions at Graniteville Mill, the Youth
Development Center, Richmond County Youth
Development Center, Aiken Regional Medical Center and
was most recently employed with Allied Universal
Services, providing security at the Starbucks facility.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Mr. Walter E.
Bennett, Sr.;first wife, Mrs. Rosetta Rouse Bennett; and
daughter, Ms. Miranda S. Bennett.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Marsha
Mayes Bennett, Augusta, GA; sons, Jermaine (Brittany)
Bennett, Indianapolis, IN and Rashon (Shawona) Bennett
Augusta, GA; step-son, Julian Mayes, Augusta, GA;
step-daughters, Brittany, Druscilla and Azalee Mayes all
of Augusta, GA; seven grandchildren, Maurice, Keshawn,
Korell, Kevin, Carsyn, Kristian, and Choyce all of
Augusta, GA; loving mother, Mrs. Lessie Mae Bennett,
Augusta, GA; brothers, Richard (Bahai) Bennett, Boston,
Massachusetts, First SGT USA Retired Edw'in C.
Bennett, Augusta, GA and Henry (Maria) Bennett, Rock
Hill, SC;,Freda A. Bennett and Lois E. Graham, both of
Augusta, GA; aunt, Effie Williams, Ashville, NC; and a
host of nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends.
