He attended Brainard Institute High School in Chester and later served overseas in
the United States Navy.
When he came to Augusta, he worked as an insurance agent for the North Carolina
Mutual Life Insurance Company. Shortly thereafter, he joined Williams Memorial

As an educator in Richmond County, he taught at Lucy C. Laney High School for
nineteen years, at Glenn Hills High School for seven years, followed by retirement in
1972.
He was united in marriage in 1939 to Carol Latimer Babcock, who preceded him in
death.
Throughout the years he worked in the community and was a long time leader of a Boy
Scout Troop at the Bethlehem Community Center in Augusta. He was also a dedicated
member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for many years. As one of the cofounders of the
Augusta Chorale, he served as the Treasurer for many years. He loved music and sang

I want you all to know that I have moved. I received a call from God, the
Chief Architect, who informed me that my new house was ready and that I could
move in immediately. I apologize as I didnt have time to give you notice.
You all know that I have been laboring, sending up timber in my own
way, packing up a little each and every day. There were however some minor
things and some finishing touches that the Chief Carpenter, Jesus Christ had to
do. I waited patiently to hear God's call and when it came, my soul was ready so
I surrendered all.
Well, my new house is beautiful and its such a sight to behold. Its located
in an exclusive estates area where the streets are paved in gold. It sits behind a
beautiful Pearly Gate, just off a serene celestial shore.
I have lived in several places, before my home was prepared, and believe
me when I say this, none can even compare. Every day is Sunday here. There
is pace, joy, happiness, and no more strife to bear. No strife or discontent, just
sweet serenity everywhere. We could go on and on, exploring my new home, but
the time has come for me to be fitted for my wings and receive my crown.
Below is my new address. I highly recommend you make plans to live
here too!
- Futhey Roberson Babcock
P.S. Let me tell you this my family and friends, I dont have a telephone yet. But
if you need me just call God. If you dont have His number, He is listed in the
Good Book on every page, contact Him!
The family wishes to greatly acknowledge all acts of kindness, prayers, and
comforting expressions during his illness and our bereavement.
