- Letter from Frank to Ben Stein, owner and manager of the Douglass Theatre, probably dated between 1927 and 1929, regarding film scheduling and advertisement. Frank explains that he received Stein's letter after he had already booked shows for the month of March but affirms that he can do some business on a colored picture. He asks Stein to send him one on Thursday and Friday in two weeks and to order the paper for him. Frank asks Stein to make sure the show has not previously played there, and cautions that all Bromberg shows, possibly referring to films distributed by Arthur C. Bromberg Independent Attractions, have played in Jacxon [sic]. He hopes that Stein did not have the rain he has had for the last two weeks. Alluding that the rain has hurt business, Frank complains that the road show Silas Green made only $12.00 for both matinee and night shows. He adds that he could use a good show that is not too big if Stein would let him know in plenty of time to get the advertising out. Frank ends with good wishes for Stein's family. The show, Silas Green from New Orleans, toured the South continuously from 1904 to the early 1940s. Salem Tutt Whitney wrote the original show and gave it to African American showman Eph Williams. Charles Collier purchased a half interest in the show, and upon Williams' death, his heirs sold the remaining portion to Collier.

Dear Ben
I received your letter and It was just after I had booked for the month of march but I believe that I can do some bunisess [business] on a collored [colored] picture and I think it advisable to set out a picture to put it in or even play a double program So you go a head [ahead] an [and] set me one on thurs [Thursday] & Fri [Friday] of week after next and you can order the paper for me in the same letter (1-6s 2-3s 10-1s 1 slide 3000 herads [heralds]) If I remember right you said 25% and 1/2 of the paper. but be sure they have not played here.
