- Letter from Nashville-based boxer Spider Jim Lawson, dated October 20, 1927 on the letterhead of Negro Southern League baseball team, the Nashville Elite Giants, proposing a boxing match. Lawson mentions he will be visiting the area in about two weeks, following a boxing match in Tennessee, and expresses an interest in fighting Battling Jackson. He provides his weight, 158 pounds, and requests a reply.
