- The Clifford Baldowski cartoon depicts six frames of Lester Maddox. In the first, Maddox is with a campaign supporter. Each successive shot is closer, revealing a glint in his eye to be a moneybag labeled "Biggest self pay raise in legislative history." In the last frame, the supporter is turning Maddox away saying, "Don't get too close, though!"
