- The Clifford Baldowski cartoon depicts Strom Thurmond and Larry McDonald dressed like soldiers from the Spanish American War and brandishing swords. McDonald's face is made to look like Frankenstein's and he has reel-to-reel tapes coming out of his ears. They are running through the chambers of congress, followed by Theodore Roosevelt. Several members look on quizzically, while one reads documents labeled "Panama Canal Treaty."
