Junior Production...a night to remember

2 Opening

Black Cat is perhaps the most-highly anticipated ASC event every year.

Junior production is a show performed by the junior class (like Ele

Paynter, above) for the rest of the campus community, usually poking fun

at one or two or ten or twelve groups on campus. But don 't worry, it's all

in good fun.

During Orientation Week at Agnes Scott, first year students are introduced to a new
city, state and for a few - a new country All are officially introduced to the world for
women. To get these newbies adjusted, Orientation Council makes preparations
months ahead to keep these ladies busy their first week. This years activities included
a visit to the world of Coca Cola, arts and crafts projects, a concert, a football game and
the excitement of their first ASC formal ceremony - the signing of the honor pledge.

First years begin to form the close bonds
of friendship early on as they explore
the campus, enjoy concerts and are
entertained by the first of many skits
performed on campus.

Orientation week ended with a bang. The first-
years were introduced to the music of Jennifer
Netties, a former Agnes Scott student. They
also watched upper classmen preform the Do's
and Don'ts skit The first-year girls also en-
joyed their first Georgia Tech Football Game.

Another successful first-year orientation has
passed, which means another Junior Production

has made us laugh until we cried. A hilarious
combination of sarcasm, wit, and talent embod-
ied this year's class of 2003. Great job Juniors!

The Junior Class welcomes Agnes Scott stu-
dents to...

"God of the Marching Centuries" is not played at
this ASC traditional event. We tend to hear more
contemporary school songs, like "Beer, Beer, Beer,"
among others. However, a certain nostalgia rings
clear in the hearts of Seniors, Juniors, Sopho-
mores, and First-years alike- Black Cat is the end
for some, and just the beginning for others. Mark-
ing the end of Orientation for First-years, the last
Black Cat for Seniors, and a resurgence of school
wide spirit, Junior Production gives the entire
Agnes Scott family something to celebrate to-
gether.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURt

These seniors followed the yellow brick road into
Agnes Scott and found themselves in a whirlwind
of activities, new voices, and different views.
Through the years they've learned many things
about themselves and about their fellow Scotties.
It's been a long, hard road, but in the end it's
definitely worth the time and trouble. Now that
they've successively made it through foour years
of excruciating pain - 1 mean thought provoking
classes and activities - these Queens are ready to
go out and make the world their own. True, the
days of lounging on the quad and in the dining
hall (until the lights get cut off), having discus-
sions about the lecture from Dr. Johnson's class,
capping, the general insanity of Black Cat Week
and Junior Production, self scheduled exams and
exam breakfasts, Taco Bell/Krispy Kreme/any-
thing that is something other than work runs and
going to Joyful Noise concerts will certainly be
missed, because they are Scotties, they are pre-
pared to take what the world has to offer and offer
something new back to it. They've passed down
their wisdom to the underclass(wo)men and now
move on to take their place in the world. Con-
gratulations.

DREAMERS OF DREAMS...

So, we thought it was all over when we graduated
from high school. Who ever thought we'd have
the same excitement and anxiety about our senior
year of college. Not one of us was ready to be
incited to go far beyond our limits when we ap-
plied here. But, minutes after we stepped on
campus we wanted to be the next Agnes Scott
' Whoa'man to cross that stage and receive our
diplomas. We've come from all over the states.
We've come from all over the world. Some of us
have come from the next town over. We've all
taken a major step to becoming well rounded,
outspoken, learned individuals more specifi-
cally, women. The "real world" is wide open now
that we've been exposed to the World for Women.
We're ready to take on anything and anyone with
the help and support of our sisters.
