College Ave. Decatur, GA 30030 404.471.6000 www.agnesscott.edu ffittePage Junior Production...a night to remember 2 Opening Black Cat is perhaps the most-highly anticipated ASC event every year. Junior production is a show performed by the junior class (like Ele Paynter, above) for the rest of the campus community, usually poking fun at one or two or ten or twelve groups on campus. But don 't worry, it's all in good fun. Who needs to study when you can lounge around? Students enjoy many places on campus to relax and take study breaks. Alston Campus Center, the Quad on a sunny afternoon, dorm rooms, or even the libraiy offer many comfortable benches and chairs like this one (left, at Alston) for students, faculty, staff and visitors. We I c o m e . . . o our world (for women) Superwomen? Was there any question? Opening 3 We sure do love our school. In fact, we're ALL SMILES! This scottie displays her love and affection for Agnes Scott. She 's happy that she's found some free time in between studying, working, and social- izing to promote her school. 4 Student Life Aw, see, we DO see the guys SOMETIMES. Yes, it's true America... we do still see men and enjoy their company. During activities such as Hands On Atlanta, Agnes Scott women have the chance to socialize with stu- dents from other area univer- sities while still lending a helping hand. Student Life... from August to May Yum, looks good! f uniors and seniors, the only classes allowed to live in very Glen apartments, enjoy the opportunity to cook in heir own kitchens, have their own bathrooms, and live more independently than residential students. To get these newbies adjusted, Orientation Council makes preparations months ahead to keep these ladies busy their first week. This years activities included a visit to the world of Coca Cola, arts and crafts projects, a concert, a football game and the excitement of their first ASC formal ceremony - the signing of the honor pledge. Student tfe First years begin to form the close bonds of friendship early on as they explore the campus, enjoy concerts and are entertained by the first of many skits performed on campus. Orientation week ended with a bang. The first- years were introduced to the music of Jennifer Netties, a former Agnes Scott student. They also watched upper classmen preform the Do's and Don'ts skit The first-year girls also en- joyed their first Georgia Tech Football Game. Student ife Pen 0*404* W*h<. Student ife The Junior Class welcomes Agnes Scott stu- dents to... AN^4M*Uh*A "God of the Marching Centuries" is not played at this ASC traditional event. We tend to hear more contemporary school songs, like "Beer, Beer, Beer," among others. However, a certain nostalgia rings clear in the hearts of Seniors, Juniors, Sopho- mores, and First-years alike- Black Cat is the end for some, and just the beginning for others. Mark- ing the end of Orientation for First-years, the last Black Cat for Seniors, and a resurgence of school wide spirit, Junior Production gives the entire Agnes Scott family something to celebrate to- gether. Rebecca Rogers leads her class in President Maty Brown Bullock and one of the sophomore class songs, guest look over the program for the night's production. f8 Student ife Ayo Williams, Lauren Davis, Emily Brinkley, and Ele Pavnter take time out of their busy class schedules to rehearse for junior Production. Under the Moon 43 LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURt These seniors followed the yellow brick road into Agnes Scott and found themselves in a whirlwind of activities, new voices, and different views. Through the years they've learned many things about themselves and about their fellow Scotties. It's been a long, hard road, but in the end it's definitely worth the time and trouble. Now that they've successively made it through foour years of excruciating pain - 1 mean thought provoking classes and activities - these Queens are ready to go out and make the world their own. True, the days of lounging on the quad and in the dining hall (until the lights get cut off), having discus- sions about the lecture from Dr. Johnson's class, capping, the general insanity of Black Cat Week and Junior Production, self scheduled exams and exam breakfasts, Taco Bell/Krispy Kreme/any- thing that is something other than work runs and going to Joyful Noise concerts will certainly be missed, because they are Scotties, they are pre- pared to take what the world has to offer and offer something new back to it. They've passed down their wisdom to the underclass(wo)men and now move on to take their place in the world. Con- gratulations. "One morning we set sail, with brains on fire, And hearts swelled up with rancorous emotion, Balancing, to the rhythm of it's lyre, Our infinite upon the finite ocean." Charles Baudelaire So, we thought it was all over when we graduated from high school. Who ever thought we'd have the same excitement and anxiety about our senior year of college. Not one of us was ready to be incited to go far beyond our limits when we ap- plied here. But, minutes after we stepped on campus we wanted to be the next Agnes Scott ' Whoa'man to cross that stage and receive our diplomas. We've come from all over the states. We've come from all over the world. Some of us have come from the next town over. We've all taken a major step to becoming well rounded, outspoken, learned individuals more specifi- cally, women. The "real world" is wide open now that we've been exposed to the World for Women. We're ready to take on anything and anyone with the help and support of our sisters.
