- Ruth Ryder recounts her service in WWII in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service). She had to get her father's permission to join although she was 21 at the time. She taught instrument usage in a plane simulator to pilots. This position was as a Link Trainer Instructor for Navy pilots learning instrument approach procedures.
