- Joe Rakestraw recount his WWII experiences. Mr. Rakestraw was drafted in 1942 and served in the European theater as a Quartermaster driving a truck. His unit landed in Casablanca and traveled to Naples, Italy. Mr. Rakestraw's two brothers served in WWI in France. During a USO show he danced with Josephine Baker.
