- Description:
- Phillip Pollock recounts his WWII experiences. Drafted in early 1943 he was sent to New Orleans for basic training. Went into the ASTP (Army Specialized Training Program) at LSU. After that he was sent to the 87th Infantry Division in Tennessee and placed in the 347th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Company G. He was assigned to the weapons platoon working his way up to squad leader. He went overseas in October of 1944. He served in the 3rd Army under Patton and saw direct combat in Germany. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
