- Description:
- Bob Maxwell began his WWII service in 1943. He was set to go to Calcutta, India as a fighter pilot around the end of the war but was prevented from going because the war ended on the Saturday before he was to leave that Monday. This was just after the bomb was dropped on Japan. He was taught to fly by the only female flight instructor in the Army at his base posting in Ballinger, Texas
