Successful soul singer and producer Peabo Bryson poses for a photograph with an award plaque at the 1979 Piedmont Arts Festival. Bryson is best known for his work with Roberta Flack in the early 1980s and later work on songs for two Walt Disney animated films. Standing around Bryson are Neighborhood Arts Center employees in green shirts, ex officio members of the Neighborhood Arts Center board of trustees, Park Recreation director Michael Lomax and Bureau of Cultural Affairs director Shirley Franklin. Shirley Franklin was elected the the first female mayor of Atlanta in 2002.
