E lnora Elizabeth Corse Walker quiedy made her transition in the early morning hours on July 16, 2013. She was a Grady baby born in Adanta, Georgia on September 4, 1927, to the late Frank and Inez Gay Corse. She was the oldest of four children, a sister and brother, Marian and Frank Junior preceded her in death. Elnora was educated in the Adanta Public Schools System, where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High.
Nurtured in a Christian home, Elnora accepted Christ as her personal savior. She joined Antioch Baptist Church, North and was baptized by the late Rev. T. H. George. Growing up loving to sing, she was a member of several choirs according to age groups, Number 3, Number 2 and the WMC. Being a high soprano she was often called to be a soloist or to lead songs.
On August 28, 1948, she united in holy matrimony to Mr. Smith Walker, a marriage that lasted more than sixty four years. This union was blessed with three children, one of which, Michael, preceded her in death.
After marriage, she joined her husband in uniting with Mount Ephraim Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Reverend Dr. R. L. White, Jr. She served on the R. L. White Usher Board and the Deaconess Board.
Elnora was employed with the Rushton Company (doll factory) until her health declined.
As a wife and mother, she had a devoted love for her family. She often hosted events and she loved family traveling. She once took a tour of the Wild-Wild-West with family and friends traveling through Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Nevada. In 1980, she traveled to New York City and Adantic City, New Jersey where she celebrated her 30th Wedding Anniversary at the Sheraton Seaside Hotel. As late as 2010, she traveled with her daughter to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida.
Her hobbies included singing, reading, crossword puzzles and reciting poetry.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are son, Deacon and Mrs. Leo G. Walker (Sherilyn); daughter, Minister Shelia I. Walker; sister, Annie Jean Barner; five grandchildren, Geovanni Muhammad (Ali), Kodi Barber, Leo G. Walker II (Crystal), Michael Cory Walker and Brandon Walker; eight great-grandchildren, Romecea, Aaliyah, I<anesia, Jeremiah, Logan, Michael, Mikaylah and Armani; two brothers-in-law, John Walker and Joe Walker Gean); aunt, Lucille Gay; a devoted cousin, Mary Askew (Alfred); two special nephews, Dexter Corse (Antoinette) and Cedric Corse; two god-daughters, Mary Kindell, Madelene Robinson and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, church and friends.

Deacon Smith Walker quiedy made his transition in the early morning hours on July 21, 2013. He was hom in Matthews, Georgia on June 2, 1924 to the late Charlie and Daisy Rivers Walker. He married Elnora Elizabeth Corse on August 28, 1948. To this union, three children were born, one of which, Michael preceded him in death.
After his military service, he joined Antioch Baptist Church, North. He later joined the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. R. L. White where he served as Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, taught Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, and new member's classes.
War II, Deacon Walker served five years in the United States Army.
A scholar of the Bible, Deacon Walker completed the Christian Workers Bible Program and received a diploma from the Carver Bible Institute in 1953. He later received a training certificate for attending Theological Classes at Carver.
Deacon Walker was a Charter Member of the Harriet G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility since 1998. A beautiful painting of him is permanendy displayed on the prestigious Friends of Darnell Charter Board Wall in the main corridor. He was an earlier member of the Thomasville Golden Age Club.
He retired from Centers from Diseases Control and Prevention, Animal Research Program with 27 years of civilian government service. He received a number of awards for his superior performance.
A sports enthusiast, Deacon Walker loved his home teams, the Adanta Braves and Falcons. His leisure activities included traveling, fishing and playing baseball.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are his son, Deacon and Mrs. Leo G. Walker (Sherilyn); daughter, Minister Shelia I. Walker; five grandchildren, Geovanni Muhammad (Ali), K.odi Barber, Leo G. Walker, II (Crystal), Michael Cory Walker and Brandon Walker; eight greatgrandchildren, Romecea, Aaliyah, I<anesia, Jeremiah, Logan, Michael, Mikaylah and Armani; two brothers, John Walker and Joe Walker Oean); one sister-in-law, Annie Jean Barner; two goddaughters, Mary Kindell, Madlene Robinson and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
