Obituary Louise Maegree "Demp" Bussey Clark
Our Mama louise Maegree "Demp" Bussey Clark was born on Chewning Street in Decatur, Georgia, August 1, 1923. She was the Twelfth and youngest child of the late Deacon laGree Foster and lessie Welch Bussey. Mama was reared on White Street in Decatur and was a lifelong member of Thankful Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing duets with her late sister Ruth Bussey long. On December 26, 1 1942 Mama was wed to the love of her life, our Daddy, the late louis Curtis "L.C." Clark, Sr. (December of last year would have marked their 70th year of marriage.)
Mama graduated from Decatur City's Herring Street School and attended Clark College for a short time. later she became a Certified Nursing Assistant through a program at what was then DeKalb College.
Professionally, Mama retired June 29, 1988 from DeKalb Medical Center as a recognized Nursing Assistant in the hospital's nursery. Mama's mother was a Certified Midwife and we believe that was why Mama was such a natural in the nursery. Accolades she received while working described her as ' compassionate, dedicated, nurturing, and loving. In March 1984 she received the "Caught in the Act Award" which was at one time the highest employee award given for outstanding patient and employee
After her retirement from DeKalb Medical Center, Mama worked as a People Greeter for Wai-Mart. At Wai-Mart she was recognized for bringing customers back into the store in a special way. Mothers who delivered babies at the hospital recognized her and returned to the store so she could see the children as they grew up.
In the community Mama was known as "Mrs. l.C.", as she lovingly supported Daddy's dream of having a restaurant-l.C.'s Rib Shack. At the Rib Shack she provided excellent customer service and ' "picked the collard and turnip greens". Mama was always an active member of the PTA as she supported and encouraged the many activities of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, ' and the children of her friends.
Mama was preceded in death by our Grandparents, our Daddy, and our Aunts and Uncles: Donald and Prudence Arnold Bussey, laNorman and Dalue Bussey, Ashful and loraine Bussey Cato, Mose and Eva Bussey Rogers, Jeff and Maggie Sue Bussey, Evelyn Bussey, James and Florrie Davis Bussey, Owen and lessie Bussey Garrett, Moses Edward Bussey, Joseph Bussey, and Ruth Bussey long. As many of you know our brother, Donald Jeff Clark, passed September 6, 2012, who was Mama's youngest baby.
Mama is survived by her babies, as she often reffered to us: Robert l. and Rosemary Clark Strong, louis Curtis, Jr. and Denise Brawner Clark; the other loves of her life-Grandchildren and GreatGrandchildren-Traver Deshane, Courtney Dionne, Rodrick Trenele and Phaedra, Melissa Necole, Destinee Quinterri and Skylar Simone. Mama is also survived by one brother-in-law and two sister-in-laws: Samuel long, Teresa Powell Bussey and Bettie Davis Clark. She is also survived by special cousins-louise Thomas Andrews and Mary Elizabeth Thomas Jennings, along with a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
We will always remember our Mama as a lady, one who always wore her lipstick, a nurturer, the one who always tried to keep in touch. the quiet but strong one, a lover of all types of music, her bountiful t humor with the ability to laugh at herself, her beautiful smile, but most of all we will miss her loving, caring spirit.
We thank each of you for being a part of Mama's wonderful life.
lovingly submitted,
Robert, Rosemary, louis, Jr. & Denise
