- Stephen King recounts his WWII experiences as a pilot in the Army Air Corps, his training and flying transport planes (C-109 and C-54) from bases in India, over the Himalayan mountains carrying aviation fuel to bases in China. After the surrender of Japan, he transported Chinese nationalist troops to Shanghai to help China regain control of its territory.
