- Gene Ohlinger recounts his WWII experiences in the United States Navy as an underwater demolitions expert on a mine sweeper cutting cables of live mines to prevent explosion in the Pacific. Active duty was in Hawaii, Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, he freed Australian prisoners held in Hiroshima and detonated mines in the China Sea.
