- Description:
- Postcard (color, linen textured, white border, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) titled – Yucca trees on the Mojave Desert, near Barstow, California. The Mojave Desert is an arid rain-shadow desert and the driest desert in North America. Its boundaries are generally noted by the presence of Joshua trees, or Yucca trees, which are native only to the Mojave Desert. Death Valley, located within the Mojave Desert, is the lowest elevation in North America and one of the harshest climates. Text on reverse: Fred Harvey Hotels-Shops-Restaurants. “On either hand lies a dreary stretch of sand and alkali, relieved only by aesthetic gnarled trunks and bolls of the yucca, black patches of lava and a mountain horizon. A desert marked by a single habitation outside of the lonely path of the locomotive where not even the cry of a wolf breaks the grim silence of desolation. Card number 8A-H483
