Owen Co. of Dansville, NY. Frederick Augustus Owen was born near South Danville, NY in 1867 and educated at Rogersville Seminary. In 1889, he started a correspondence school for teachers. In 1891, he began publishing Normal Instructor, a magazine to aid the students in his correspondence school.
