- Postcard (color, divided back, 3 ½ x 5 ½ inches) titled – Robert Burns. Robert Burns, also known familiarly as Rabbie Burns, the National Bard, Bard of Ayrshire and the Ploughman Poet and various other names and epithets, was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. This postcard features a portrait of Robert Burns from an old print. The postcard is from the “National” Series and was printed in Britain. No descriptive text on reverse. Mailed from England by a United States serviceman, the card bears a “Passed” stamp by an Army examiner and is postmarked by the U.S. Army Postal Service, A.P.O. November 23, 1943.
