- Postcard (black and white, white border, divided back, 2 7/8 x 4 1/4 inches) titled Hawaiian Banana, Honolulu. - The banana is not native to Hawaii, but was introduced by Polynesian seafarers between 200 and 1350 according to Angela K. Kepler and Francis G. Rust in their book, "The World of Bananas: Then and Now." Most of the more than 100 edible banana varieties and subvarieties as well as a dozen ornamental varieties grow well in Hawaii. They grow best in tropical environments below 2,000 feet with temperature ranges between 65 and 80 degrees and humidity of 50 percent or greater. No descriptive text on reverse.
