- Description:
- Postcard (color, linen texture, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) titled Sausage Tree (Kigellia Piantta), Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida 6 featuring a large tree with unusual fruit hanging from its branches. Tall, with smooth grey bark and beautiful, bell-shaped flowers, the kigellia tree is often cultivated ornamentally, Dense and fibrous, the fruits can grow to over three feet in length, weighing upwards of 22 pounds. The raw fruit is poisonous. The fruit is known to have anti-microbial properties, and is thought to help with skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. It often even makes its way into high-end anti-aging and beauty products as well as treatment for a myriad of other ailments. Text on reverse: Sausage Tree (Kingellia Pinatta), Native of Africa. The strange tree with fruit closely resembling huge bologna sausages is the Mecca of Metropolitan Miami sightseers. Postage required 1 cent stamp. Card number 62352.
