- Postcard (color, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches)titled Lace Work in Iron, New Orleans, La. featuring a three storied building with wrought-iron balconies. Simple but elegant wrought-iron balconies, began to appear on most late Spanish colonial-era brick structures of two stories or more at the turn of the19th century. Text on reverse: Lacework Iron Balcony, Cor. Royal and St. Peter. This building was built by Jean Labaranche in the early 1800’s and is noted for the beautiful iron balcony which is one of the most admired among many for which old New Orleans is famous. The design is of oak leaves and acorns. Card number 7A-H3120.
