- Postcard (color, linen texture, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) titled The Pakenham Oaks, New Orleans, La. featuring a roadway lined with large moss covered oaks. Text on reverse: The Pakenham Oaks (Also known as “The Cathedral of Oaks”) These majestic trees planted in 1783, 79 of them said to constitute the finest grove of Live Oaks in the world, located on the Mississippi River, just below New Orleans, at scene of the Battle of New Orleans, where on the Plains of Chalmette, Andrew Jackson on January 8th, 1815, put a decisive end to the War of 1812, by overwhelmingly defeating General Pakenham. “New Orleans – America’s Most Interesting City” Card number 0B-H1573.
