By the 1930s, life at GSWC centered around traditional activities: picnics at the fireplaces, plays, club activities, and afternoon tea in the Rotunda overseen by Miss Hopper. A 1938 cookout at one of the stone fireplaces which had been donated in 1931 by "thoughtful faculty members." Miss Ivey, Miss Gilmer (Odum), Mr. Dusenbury, and Dr. Powell.
