The purpose of any annual is to bring back memories
of by gone days. If in future days this CHIEFTAIN
brings back fond memories of days at West Georgia, the
publisher's efforts and those of the Chieftain Staff will
not have been in vain.

the local field before a crowd of cheering fans. ,1. C. Hinlon went across

Tntereeption and 80 yard dash, with Pitts taking the pigskin over. Hise

The West Georgia Braves fell before the mighty G.M.C. Cadets at Milledge-

the 73 yard pass from Marold Pitts to Biirnell Payne resulting in the single
touchdown.

One of the outstanding games of the season was between the Braves and
St. Bernard Saints, although W.G.C. came out with lowest score. The thriller
was a fast and tough game. St. Bernard m.ade a safety early in the first
quarter. West Ga. scored in the fourth with Bernard doing likewise. Pitts,
Williams, Garrett, Hinton played a great game.

The Middle Georgia football team was completely
aware of the presence of welchmen on a certain night
in October and. although the final score favored the
opponent. W.G.C. played a superb game. Outstanding
W.G.C. players were Brown and Hammill, Davis,
Pitts and Causey.

Due to injuries of several key players, the Braves
were downed by Marion Institute. "Pete" Causey
grabbed a Marion pass and sprinted to make a lone

As the Winter quarter rolled around, W.G.C. turned
the spotlight on the ever-popular sport, basketball. Again
W.G.C. had a good team with the regulars, Guy Hender-
son, and Bob Garrett returning. The other places on the
varsity are filled by "Bedo" Culbertson, Wales Gobbels,
and Harold Herring. A rough schedule of nineteen
games played, and a tournament date filled, told the
story of the "49" Braves.
