in Carroll County and surrounding areas., or persons living anywhere
who have roots in Carroll County or an interest in the founding
fathers and history of the County. This Society does not assume
responsibility for errors in fact or opinion which may appear in

Dear Members,
As we approach the end of another year, we are prone to
look back and take stock of our accomplishments. I feel that
we have had a very good year! This year, for the first time,
we are publishing four issues of our Quarterly, having had only
three the two previous years. Every effort has been made to
have these publications on time. We have been fortunate in
having much valuable information for printing sent to us by
our members. Thank you for this. Keep it coming!
Mrs. Hollingsworth is to be commended for her work as
Program Chairman. We have had outstanding programs this year.
Our annual picnic at the home of Mrs. Billy Morrow was enjoyed
by a large group. In August we met at the Carroll County Court
House where Kenneth Skinner, Clerk of Court, conducted a very
informative meeting, showing how to use the County records in
genealogical research. In September, we had a most enjoyable
luncheon meeting at the Western Steer Restaurant, with Kenneth
Thomas, Jr., as our speaker. Mr. Thomas writes a genealogical
article for the Sunday Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Our October
meeting will be held at the Neva Lomason Library in Carrollton,
with Mrs. Mary Anderson, who operates the Family Tree in LaGrange
Georgia, as our speaker. Our November meeting will be held at
the Carroll E.M.C. Building on the 18th. This is a week before
our regular meeting date, since our regular date falls on
Thanksgiving. Please take note of this change in date.
Our membership continues to grow. We now have members in
many of the fifty states. We appreciate all our members.
We are looking forward to an even better year next year.
I have had great cooperation from all the officers and members
of the Society. Let’s join hands and work together even harder
to make our Society bigger and better next year.
Thank you all.for a good year!
Sincerely,
Clarice

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Since so many pedigree charts of our members have accumulated
over the years, it was decided to devote this issue of the
Quarterly to these. The Eden Church minutes will continue in
the next issue. If your pedigree chart has not been printed,
it will be included in a future issue.
The i860 Census of Carroll County is being printed. It should
be available from Mrs. Nell Yates, 818 Tyus Road, Bowdon, Ga.
30108, after December 1. The price is $^.00 per copy, postpaid.
The work on the Carroll County Cemetery book is progressing.
It should be ready for sale sometime next year.
November 18 is the next time we meet. Please note that this
is a change from our regular date which falls on Thanksgiving.
This meeting will be at the Carroll E.M.C. Building.
It's time to renew! Your renewal slip is at the back of this
issue. Please send it to us as soon as possible.
Former issues of the Quarterly are still available. All issues
for 1981 and 1982 can be ordered by the request blank at the back
of this issue.
The 1850 Carroll County Census order blank is also at the back
of this issue, together with the blank for the new i860 Carroll
County Census which will be available in December.
We welcome your contributions to the Quarterly. They should be
sent to Mrs. Clarice S. Cox, Rt 2 Box 274, Carrollton, Ga. 30117.
We enjoy receiving your comments about this publication and would
like your suggestions as to how we could make this a better
Quarterly.
