- Description:
- This is a series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from a February 26, 1972 report by Charles Harmon on a community-led subscription drive to help secure Robert Shaw's continued tenure as conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, including an interview with organizer Washington Falk. The initial footage is of mostly white female volunteers accepting checks from supporters, with natural sound. Harmon, off camera, interviews symphony supporter Washington Falk III, who says that Shaw has made the symphony great and they would like to keep it great. He says the drive is a grass roots movement to sell out the house, and that the group has secured over one thousand season ticket subscriptions in less than two days' work.
