- In this series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from the Etowah Indian Mounds in Bartow County, Georgia on December 15, 1954, archaeologists excavate the site and show uncovered relics. The clip opens on a posted sign that reads: "Etowah Mounds, This is state property now under development as an archeological park. All relics and history are protected by law from unauthorized digging and destruction, Please cooperate to preserve the site. No excavations permitted, State Parks Department." The next scene shows a temporary structure set up and an overview of the area. The next scene shows a close-up of the temporary setup along with a wheelbarrow and areas marked off for excavation. The next scene shows Gene Ann Strickland talking to other archaeologists who can be seen excavating. The next scene shows an unidentified white man down in the ground clearing dirt off of a find. The camera pans up to show a full skeleton. The next few scenes show more of the mounds being excavated while archaeologists dig. Unidentified men are seen using shovels and pickaxes to excavate the mounds.
The final scenes show relics discovered during excavation. Various relics including pots and bowls are seen. The camera zooms in on a marble figurine of a man sitting cross-legged. The last scenes show close-up views of the relics.
