- Description:
- In this series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from sometime in 1958, Georgia Senator Richard Russell speaks to reporter Ray Moore about the development of a nuclear aircraft. He says it could be "one of the most tremendous weapons that has ever been known." It could fly almost indefinitely, at extremely high altitudes, and carry an almost unlimited payload. He blames the delay in its development on President Eisenhower. He fears the Russians may develop it first and America would be compelled create a crash program in order to catch up.
