- Description:
- In this series of WSB newsfilm clips, reporter John Pruitt is reporting from an abandoned building where he speaks about the problems of decaying neighborhoods. The clips begin with a long shot of what appears to be abandoned apartment buildings. The next shot is a doorway to one of the apartment buildings. John Pruitt walks out of the door and talks to the camera. He talks about how these abandoned buildings are a scar on neighborhoods and how they are a sign that the neighborhoods are decaying. He then speaks about how he will be talking about this and how it can be addressed. This segment will be called "Somebody Lived Here." After several takes of this, the following shots are of different parts of the buildings. This includes broken windows, from both outside and inside of the buildings. This is followed by Mr. Pruitt standing inside a building and speak out of a broken window. As he is speaking, he walks out of the building. He speaks about how the abandoned buildings are signs a neighborhood is dying and how it could take months or years to remedy this problem. He also questions how this can happen. Next are more shots of the decaying buildings. Mr. Pruitt ends the segment talking about redlining, which is a process where money lenders draw imaginary red lines around dying neighborhoods where lending institutions feel that loans would be too risky. The clips end with a couple of more shots of the buildings.
