- Description:
- In this series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from probably between 1957 and 1963, Secretary of State Christian Herter discusses the possibility of all-out nuclear war with the Soviet Union. He says that minor incidents should never be the cause of nuclear war. He says the president (most likely John F. Kennedy) has made it clear that the U.S. will never fire the first shot. He believes the Russians don't want a nuclear war any more than the U.S. does, but that we should seriously consider it a possibility.
