- Description:
- In this series of WSB newsfilm clips from May 23, 1978, reporter Don McClellan is interviewing people about the dangers of moonshine in the wake of four people dying from moonshine poisoning.
The clip is divided into two segments, part one and b-roll. Part one begins with an interview of an unidentified man about the dangers of both moonshine and cigarettes. The next clip shows an old, rusty moonshine still, highlighting the dangers of lead poisoning in moonshine.
Next, Don McClellan reports on a doctor who has grown discouraged about having to repeatedly warn the people of Meriwether County about the dangers of moonshine. The next clip shows several jugs of moonshine and man pouring out one of the jugs.
An unidentified man is then interviewed about the unwillingness of people to report moonshiners to law enforcement. The last clips are random shots of buildings and of the countryside.
The second segment of the clip is b-roll, during which clips of road signs of Talbot County and Meriwether County are shown. There is also a Manchester city limits sign beside the Meriwether sign. The following clips show buildings in a downtown area, presumably Manchester. This is followed by clips of an old still. The clips end with two unidentified law enforcement officials sniffing jugs of moonshine.
