- Description:
- In this series of WSB newsfilm clips from May 17, 1973, from Donalsonville, Georgia, an unidentified white male comments on the murders of the Alday family on the day of the funeral services.
The clips begin with reporter Charles Harmon standing in front of the Spring Creek Baptist Church. He says, "This afternoon, funeral services for six members of the Ned Alday family will be held here at the Spring Creek Baptist Church, where Aubrey Alday and three of Ned's sons were deacons. Following those services, the murder victims' bodies will be taken to the church cemetery, and the family plot."
The clips then cut to a series of two temporary grave markers that read, "Ned Alday ... [unintelligible text]... Evans Funeral Home" and "Jerry Alday... [unintelligible text]... Evans Funeral Home." Next, there is a shot of a large headstone reading "ALDAY" and five caskets in open graves behind it.
An unidentified white male is shown standing in the cemetery. He says, "It's just the most serious and most hardest thing that I ever tried to do in my life. And in a situation like this, all we can do is rely on the Lord, and just accept His will as part
of this thing that has happened to us and hope that it will be used for His glory."
