A younger girl sits in front of the first little girl across from the birthday cake. Both girls keep dipping their fingers in the cake and licking the icing. The older girl pulls the cake towards her, while the younger girl keeps trying to lick the icing. A woman's hand pulls away the younger girl's hand from the cake. The older girl blows out the birthday candles. Black slug. Segment two: Another birthday party, 0:51. A little girl is sitting in front of a cake. An older girl lights the birthday candles. The little girls blow out the candles. A woman's hand is seen cutting the cake. The older girl cuts the cake. Both girls are eating cake and ice cream. The younger girl is seen with quarters and she puts them in a piggy bank. An older woman is seen standing next to her giving the little girl the quarters. The younger girl gives a slice of cake to an African American maid. The younger girl keeps playing with quarters and the piggy bank. The older girl brings a present on a toy wagon for the younger girl. The younger girl takes the present and puts it on top of the table. They open the present. A blue dress is inside the box. The younger girl gets inside the wagon and keeps playing with the piggy bank. Segment three: Christmas, 3:31. The camera pans around a living room full of toys around a Christmas tree. The camera zooms in to show some of the toys up close. One of the toys is a miniature blackboard with the name "Beth" written on it. Black slug. A chimney. The camera pans around showing Christmas decorations. The older girl is seen playing with the toys in the living room. She plays with a basketball and basketball net, a toy broom and vacuum, a coloring book, a toy horn, and blows bubbles, and plays with a doll and a hand mirror. She eats a peppermint stick from her Christmas stocking. Another miniature blackboard with the word "Maybelle" is written on it. The younger girl comes into the living room and opens and plays with her presents. She plays with a toy horn, a basketball, a coloring book, a toy tractor, and a toy broom and dustpan. She takes gifts out of her Christmas stocking, including oranges, which she tries to slice with a knife. More children come in and are seen opening presents. Adults are also seen opening presents.
