- Black slug. Segment one: Visiting family, 0:06. Two toddlers are being pulled in a carriage by goats being led by an African American boy. The little boy feeds the goat corn, then eats some himself. The African American boy previously leading the goats rides with the little boy. He then rides alone on a goat. An African American woman and boy try to put the little boy on a goat, but do not succeed. He continues to feed the goats corn. He then pulls the wagon. He lies down on a bed. The little boy sits on the back of a horse in the saddle as he is lead around slowly. The little boy sits in a tin tub and plays with the water. The two African American boys run across the yard. They ride on the goat cart with the little boy. He rides alone. The little boy rides a tricycle. A house with water skis outside sits on the water. There are trees surrounding a large lake. A boy pulls the little boy in a wagon by riding his bicycle. The boy's mother pulls him in a wagon. He walks around the yard in a robe. He pulls the wagon beside their pool. He plays with a sprinkler on the side of the pool. His grandfather tries to get him to jump in, but the boy will not do it. They swim together and splash. The little boy still will not jump into the pool. Inside the house with clothes on, she runs in place with a small broom. Sitting in his highchair, the boy feeds a dachshund some of his food. A group of adults sit in a room together. The little boy scoots across the floor on a toy tractor. His father hands him a full stocking for him to open. His mother and father help him with a toy gun. The boy plays in the pool with his father. He floats in an inflatable tube. In the ocean with his grandfather, the boy sits on a raft with the tube around his waist. They swim and play together. His mother stands on the beach. He sits in an inflatable pool with a baby girl. A dog runs around. Their grandmother floats in the nearby pool. An African American woman helps the baby to her grandmother. The boy swims in the pool after his grandmother, while the African American woman watches the baby walk around. The grandmother is playing with the baby girl. She walks on the driveway. Her grandfather swings her on his legs. She pushes a baby carriage. The boy stands in front of a flock of seagulls on the beach. He throws food for them, which they fight over. The boy and his mother make a sandcastle in the sand. He swims alone in the pool. His mother is there with him, but he does not need her help. There is a slide in the middle of the pool. He and his grandfather play together in the ocean again. The grandmother holds the little girl on her lap, but she is restless. The little girl walks around with a toy before standing by her grandmother while the boy and a girl ride bicycles. The little girl walks slowly around. Her grandmother pushes her on a swing. The boy swings by himself. The older girl, younger girl, boy, and grandmother are by the pool as the boy plays with a plastic toy boat in the water. He rides his bicycles with his little sister sitting on the front of it. They sit in the dark. Black slug. A lot of boys swim in the family's pool. A mother and father are with some of them. The mother has her daughter as well. The grandmother is in the pool with them. The grandmother watches the little girl at the pool while the boy and a girl race. The little girl swims. Other children swim in the pool with them. The mothers and grandmother are in the pool to help. The family sits outside at a restaurant. There is a children's table for them separate from the adults. The little girl stands on the beach unhappily. The boy runs into the waves and out before the can get to him. The mother walks her daughter out to the water, but picks her up before the waves can get her. She is unhappy when her mother puts her down in the water. The boy and his father ride bicycles in front of the house. The boy rides into his sister on her tricycle and he crashes. He gets back on and keeps riding. Black slug. Segment two: Vacation in Maine and Massachusetts, 19:11. Sign: "How the Gentry takes a trip The Hales trip to Maine, Marblehead, and Boston." Looking out over the water, there are islands and a mountain in the distance. People stand between a small airplane and a couple of cars on a dirt field. A boardwalk leads to large white building like a hotel. A girl runs across the boardwalk and a woman follows more slowly behind. A sailboat sits in the water. People ride on a small boat. Someone is on the sailboat, getting it ready to take out. In a pool, the boy and his father swim together. A toddler eats food on a rock. People sit and eat on rocks around the pool. There is a spread of food on a few tables with tablecloths. The pool is overlooking the water. There are mountains across the water. A yellow flower is shown up close. A man and woman laugh together. A man plays croquet by himself. There are woman with him to watch. A child helps another man play. They ride away from the hotel on a boat. It can be seen in the distance. A sailboat sails near them. Another sailboat joins the first one. There are a lot of people out on the water in their sailboats. People float by in a boat with a dark blue flag. Many more sailboats. One has an orange and blue sail. A girl walks on large rocks. A nice house with a stone wall in front of it. A house with bushes as a fence. A man and woman kiss outside one of the houses. The girl walks along the large rocks at the shore. There is no one outside the other house. A wooden building with wooden shingles. Sign: "JOHN WARD HOUSE 1684 GUIDED TOURS." A family walks through the gardens of the house. A man and woman pose in front of a pile of rocks with a statue of a young man on top. A couple walks up to a white house. Sign: "The Home of RALPH WALDO EMERSON." A man and woman pose in front of a small wooden cottage made of wood shingles. A man and woman walk through the woods. There is a small stone commemorating something. They stop and sit on wood posts. In an open area, the couple walks toward the water. There are no boats on the water. Sign: "CONCORD FIGHT ON THE MORNING OF APRIL NINETEENTH, 1775, WHILE THE BRITISH HELD THIS BRIDGE, THE MINUTE-MEN AND MILITIA OF CONCORD AND NEIGHBORING TOWNS GATHERED ON THE HILL ACROSS THE RIVER. THERE THE CONCORD ADJUTANT JOSEPH HOSMER DEMANDED, "WILL YOU LET THEM BURN THE TOWN DOWN?" THERE THE LINCOLN CAPTAIN WILLIAM SMITH, OFFERED TO DISLODGE THE BRITISH THE ACTON CAPTION, ISAAC DAVIES, SAID, "I HAVEN'T A MAN THAT'S AFRAID TO GO!" AND THE CONCORD COLONEL, JAMES BARRETT ORDERED THE ATTACH ON THE REGULARS. THE COLUMN WAS LED BY MAJOR JOHN BUTTRICK, MARCHING FROM HIS OWN FARM. HIS AIRE WAS LT. COLONEL JOHN ROBINSON OF WESTFORD. THE MINUTE-MEN OF ACTON, CONCORD, LINCOLN AND BEDFORD FOLLOWED. AFTER THEM CAME THE MILITIA. AT THE BRITISH VOLLEY ISAAC DAVIS FELL. BUTTRICK CRIED, "FIRE, FELLOW-SOLDIERS, FOR GOD'S SAKE FIRE!" AND HIMSELF FIRED FIRST. THE BRITISH FLED; AND HERE BEGAN THE SEPARATION OF TWO KINDRED NATIONS, NOW HAPPILY UNITED IN PEACE." The couple walks along the wooden bridge mentioned by the plaque previously shown. There are a lot of people on it. On the other side is a monument where the men stood. There are statues of the minute-men. Slowly they walk up to the stage individually to receive awards. Two boys pose together holding small trophies. Segment five: Vacation in Washington, D.C. and Virginia, 49:28. A woman sits on a boat overlooking the water. A group sits in chairs on the deck of a boat. A large group of house boats float together on the water. Their boat backs away from the houseboats to go in the other direction. They pull a small boat behind them. An animal climbs out of the water and quickly hides on land. Sign: "40 Min. Rocky cliffs on the shore drop steeply into the water. They pass a tugboat pushing a long barge. The sun shines brightly through the trees. On open water. Black slug.
