Segment three: Marblehead, Massachusetts, 4:57. Sign: "MARBLEHEAD YACHT YARD INC." A woman walks through a boat yard. Men build boats. Wooden sailboats stack up on a dock. Waves crash on rocks in the harbor. A sailboat floats on the horizon. Large rocks in the water are worn down by crashing waves. People ride in a sailboat together. Land with houses and lake and beaches is shown from above on an airplane flight. There are many tall clouds in the sky. Some of the clouds are at the same height as the camera. There are miles of sandy coastline. In places, the water stretches as far as the eye can see. There is a large cluster of buildings and trees where the town is. Sailboats dot the water. Some houses on the beach are on larger estates with more privacy. People climb off the airplane in a field with other airplanes. A flag flies on the back of a sailboat. Two young women sit eating sandwiches and chatting. Other people on the water maneuver their sailboats. A young woman stands in the shadows of their boat. A faster boat speeds alongside the sailboats. They move around on their boat and the camera rocks side to side. A man stares ahead in focus. Women sit in the back of the boat bouncing up and down. The water is a bit choppy. They float by many other boats. Identical houses all in a row. People walk outside of the houses. Some have small white fences and gardens. A wooden house covered in ivy with wooden shingles and a wooden fence. Segment four: Nantucket, Massachusetts, 14:09. Sign: "MADAKET OLDEST HOUSE." Sign: "REUBEN JOY HOMESTEAD About 1700." A house made of wooden shingles for siding. Flowers on bushes move in the wind. There are elaborate windows. Above a doorway "SELDENSHALF." A woman looks at pink flowers. On the side of the street, there are a couple of penny-farthings, old bicycles with large front wheels. Sailboats sit in the harbor. A woman gets comfortable on the back of a rocking boat. A girl peers into the camera. A sailboat sails quickly by. There are many sailboats out. Black slug. Segment five: Gathering, 15:59. A large group of people stand talking beneath tall pine trees. There are many cars parked nearby. A man talking to someone holds a plate of food. There is food set up on a long table and people wait in line to get some. A young woman eats her food while sitting on a fallen tree. Other people put their plates on the hood of their car. Some people just stand. One young woman sits in the car facing outward. Segment six: Football game, 17:14. A huge crowd watches a game of football. During halftime, a marching band with capes marches on the field. Another marching band, in red uniforms, performs after them. People in costumes perform with them as the band plays. The football game is back on. The scoreboard in the corner says that the game is Georgia vs. Auburn. Sign: "Coca-cola." Black slug. Segment seven: Cheyenne, Wyoming, 19:58. Land goes by as a car drives. The camera films their car passing other cars on the road. There are fields and small hills. At a house, women walk out with suitcases to put in the car's trunk. Sign: "CHEYENNE." At the house, the women pack a car. A landscape of somewhat barren hills with mountains in the background. Two women pose next to a sign: "SUMMIT TAVERN CABINS MEALS HIGHEST POINT ON LINCOLN HIGHWAY ELEVATION 8835." The wind is blowing their hair. A white building is shown from across a field with smoking coming out of it. Mountains rise on the far side of the road. People walk around at a hotel-like area with more mountains. Outside of a small white building is a sign: "6 FAMILY MILK HOUSE BUILT IN 1858." A wooden building has a sign: "7 FAMILY SCHOOL HOUSE BUILT IN 1860 FIRST SCHOOL HOUSE IN WYOMING." The buildings have red roofs. The two young women walk by them with their mother. They are on one side of a large lake with mountains on the other side. In a city, there are tall buildings and lots of cars. People walk around outside of a tall gothic-style building. There are orange and yellow flowers on the ground. On the side of the road, a fire hydrant is open with water gushing out. Segment eight: Utah, 22:19. Sign: "HOTEL UTAH." Sign: "GARAGE." A capitol building can be seen framed by an arch over the road far in front of it with a sign: "NO U TURN." A gothic clock tower high in the trees. The dome of a capitol building. In the distance there are mountains. The women walk on a rocky beach with mountains in the distance. They change into bathing suits and swim caps and climb into the water. They float together in the water. Sign: "LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON." The two young women dig in a creek for water. At a picnic table, a family shares a meal. They walk down a path below a snowy mountain. There are fields of wildflowers. They are shades of orange, blue, and white. They pick their way up the mountain next to a stream, still looking at wildflowers. When they get to snow, they take their shoes off and run on it. They throw small snowballs. There are wildflowers everywhere. A whole field full of rocks is also full of wildflowers. There is a river in a ravine below. Two men with cameras, with "KSL-TV Television" painted on them stand on a stage in front of a building with "UNION RAILROAD COMPANY RADIO STATION KSL" painted on it. Cars drive together at the start of a parade as people line the road. Military members bear flags just behind them. Two young women carry a banner: "LETTER CARRIERS DAUGHTERS SALT LAKE CITY UTAH." Sign: "McCONAHAY JEWELRY." Sign: "DAYNES OPTICAL." Women with batons march. Sign: "MEREDITH'S LUGGAGE & LEATHER GOODS 106." A band in all white uniform follows them. Cars carrying important people drive by, followed by another marching band. More cars follow them. People on bicycles occasionally ride by. There are some elaborate floats. Clowns ride around on decorated bicycles and unicycles. An old truck drives by with a banner: "THE HORSELESS CARRIAGE CLUB OF UTAH." People drive by in early cars. Women with batons march at the front of another marching band. Women sit on a float for U and I Sugar. More floats advertising places around the city drive by. A band claiming to be the world's largest marching band marches by with a lot of members. A fake train with many different cars drives down the street. Women ride horses in matching uniforms. Utah Poultry has a float. A statue is on a float. Barren land as far as the eye can see with some small hills in it. Segment nine: Sun Valley, Idaho, 31:07. Sign: "U.S. POST OFFICE SUN VALLEY IDA." People walk out of an old building with "Challenger Inn" painted above the doorway. There are flowers are grassy areas around it. The mother and two young women walk out of the doorway of the "OPERA HOUSE", which has posters on each side of the door advertising the current shows. A sprinkler keeps the grass green. People sit by a pond. By a field, there is an ice skating rink outside full of people. People skate in circles again and again. Many people sit outside a pool below a mountain. The two young women are sun tanning. A waterfall crashes down beside the city. There are buildings behind the river. A larger waterfall in the middle of the woods. They pose above it. A cabin. People are out on boats in a river. A mountain stands tall in the distance. There are buildings in the fields. Black slug. Segment ten: Yellowstone National Park, 34:55. The three women pose near the base of a waterfall. The camera catches the water rushing. The family walks over a boardwalk in a park. Sign: "FOUNTAIN GEYSER IN TIMES PAST, THIS WAS PERHAPS ONE OF THE BEST-KNOWN GEYSERS IN THE AREA BECAUSE OF ITS MORE FREQUENT ERUPTIONS AND THE LOCATION OF THE OLD FOUNTAIN HOTEL IN THE CLEARING A QUARTER OF A MILE TO THE NORTH. TODAY, DURING ITS INFREQUENT ERUPTIONS, IT THROWS WATER TO A HEIGHT OF 75 FEET FROM THE NEARER CRATER, TO FORM A BEAUTIFUL MASS OF HOT WATER WITH JETS THROWN AT ALL ANGLES. THIS IS THE TYPICAL "FOUNTAIN" TYPE OF ERUPTION. THE LARGER POOL TO THE NORTH SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH FOUNTAIN GEYSER. NOTICE THE DELICATE TRACERY OF THE FORMATIONS, AS WELL AS THE GREENISH COLOR OF THE WATER IN THE CRATER." The young women watch as the ground bubbles. Sign: "FOUNTAIN PAINT POT THE VARYING SHADES OF COLOR TO BE FOUND IN THIS MORE OR LESS UNIQUE PHENOMENOM HAVE CAUSED MANY TO LIKEN IT TO THE PAINT POT OF AN ARTIST. IN A MORE PROSAIC MANNER, IT IS SEEN AS A NUMBER OF HOT SPRINGS, THE WATER OF WHICH CONTAINS A LARGE QUANTITY OF A SUBSTANCE KNOWN AS SILICEOUS CLAY UP THROUGH WHICH GAS IS BUBBLING. THIS SUBSTANCE WAS FORMED BY THE BREAKING DOWN INTO VERY SMALL PARTICLES OF THE SINTER AND OTHER ROCKS CONTAINING SILICA AND WHICH ARE TO BE FOUND IN THIS REGION." The geyser is filled, but there is only a little bit of bubbling. A larger geyser pool has steam coming off of it. Sign: "MORNING GLORY POOL THIS FAR-FAMED POOL HAS EASILY WON ITS NAME FROM THE SYMMETRY AND DEPTH OF ITS CRATER AND THE BLUE COLOR OF THE WATER. THIS BLUE IS THE NORMAL COLOR OF LARGE BODIES OF WATER. THE MORE BRILLIANT HUES TO BE FOUND IN SMALLER QUANTITIES ARE DUE TO A LOW FORM OF PLANT LIFE. WHILE THE FAME OF THIS IS GREAT, IT NEVERTHELESS IS CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE SURPASSED BY A NUMBER OF OTHER POOLS IN THE PARK, SOME OF WHICH ARE IN THIS GENERAL REGION." The camera films into the depths of the pool, which are very blue. A geyser is steaming. Cars park as a large lodge and people stand around outside. There are dark clouds in the sky. A geyser streams up very high into the air as people watch. Mountains in the distance, with dark clouds all around. Cars drive through the rain and wind. Mountains with snow on the top can be seen on the far side of a lake. There are pine trees in the foreground. A large yellow hotel sits behind some trees. The camera films a river from the top of a waterfall. The water crashes over the edge to below. Rocks combine together to make a mountainside. A river trains through the canyon ended in a waterfall. The water flows very quickly. A bear stands in the middle of a road, then just walks along it. The camera films the inside of the car. Another waterfall. Another bear. More steam rising off of geysers and hot springs. Large deer or elk stand in a field. A person with a camera approaches them. The animals just stand and calmly eat grass. They go to the river for water. Lots of mountains. Segment eleven: Virginia City, Montana, 40:28. Sign: "ENTERING VIRGINIA CITY." Sign: "VIRGINIA CITY All of Montana has the deepest pride and affection for Virginia City. No more colorful pioneer mining camp ever existed. Dramatic tales of the early days in this vicinity are legion. Rich placer diggings were discovered in Alder Gulch in the spring of 1863 and the stampede of gold seekers and their parasites was on. Sluices soon lined the gulch and various "cities" blossomed forth as trading and amusement centers for free handed miners. Virginia City, best known of these and the sole survivor, because the Capital of the territory. Pioneers who, with their descendants, were to mold the destinies of our state were among its first citizens. If you like true stories more picturesque than fiction, Virginia City and Alder Gulch can furnish them in countless numbers." Sign: "NOTICE UNLESS SNOW CONDITION IN THE Mountains Are Unusual, the 1st Coach from Salt Lake City Will Arrive in VIRGINIA CITY shortly after Noon on SUNDAY, JUNE 10." Wax people sit behind a desk in a museum. Other historical objects are shown. Outside of a large wooden building, is an old sign for a wagon shop. Outside of a building sits a carriage with barrels and a sign: "BREWERY." The women sit at a wooden bench with floor. The camera pans up to the top of the brewery. An animal in a field. The sun sets behind the mountains in the distance. Flowers line a pathway leading up to a lodge. They are purple and white. A road leads to a tall snow-capped mountain. There is a river down below the camera and mountains above. The water flows through the mountains. It is so clear that mountains reflect perfectly in the water. The rocks on the bottom can be seen. A man stands at the edge of the water. People sit eating lunch next to the river. There is a powerful waterfall. A man stands on a rock fishing. A road winds through the trees and mountains. The mountains are sheer rocks. The car is stopped on the side of the road to look at the snow-capped mountains. They drive through a tunnel in the mountains. Everywhere they turn there are more mountains, most of the snow-capped. A small waterfall crosses the road. The women stand in a large pile of snow and throw snowballs. Cars are stopped on the road to look at snow. There are more mountains and waterfalls. Some flowers bloom beside a creek. Segment twelve: Continental Divide and Mount Jackson, 45:31. Sign: "CONTINENTAL DIVIDE LOGAN PASS ELEVATION 6664 PARKING AREA ST MARY." More snow and mountains. A waterfall is created by the melting snow. Sign: "MT JACKSON." The snow-capped mountain is shown in the distance. Across a lake, there are tall and pointy mountains. Segment thirteen: Banff National Park, 46:19. People walk into a building with "BANFF NATIONAL PARK" across the top. There is a small town in the valley formed by tall mountains. People ride on a ski lift to the top of a mountain. There are even more mountains in the distance. People wave at the camera. The ski lift goes over grassy mountains, not snowy mountains. People help the riders back on at the top for the descent. A huge mountain towers over them. The women sit at a lake and turn to look at the snowy mountain. They walk through a garden area in front of a hotel. People walk around everywhere. There are wildflowers of all colors, but mostly orange and yellow. People jump off a diving board into a pool in view of the snowy mountains. There are wildflowers by the pool. The hotel has beautiful views of the lake and mountain. People walk across a bridge. A waterfall crashes into a pool of water. Black slug.
