"The goddess of fame beckoned, and six brave men went to their deaths before the world acclaimed today's greatest hero- Captain Charles A. Lindbergh of America." Segment two: Charles Lindbergh, 1:18. Charles Lindbergh appears on the screen. Segment three: Fonck's plane, 1:23. Title: "It was on September 21, 1926, that Fonck's great Sikorsky plane turned turtle and burned up as it started for Paris." The camera shows a plane lifting off the ground. The plane catches on fire and is engulfed in flames. Segment four: Byrd's plane, 1:40. Title: "But suddenly grim fate steps in again and takes a hand, first wrecking Byrd's big Fokker, crippling him and his assistants Noville and Bennett, on April 16." A man in uniform is interviewed by someone off camera. Segment five: Plane flips, 1:52. The camera shows a plane attempting to land but flipping over. A crowd of people run over to the plane. Segment six: Bellanca plane, 2:11. Title: "Then the Bellanca plane is damaged during takeoff and Chamberlin barely saves the lives of himself and two little girl passengers." A plane with "140" painted on its side lifts off the ground. It flies around in the sky for a bit and then it lands back on the ground. The plane does not land properly. A group of people run over to the plane. Segment seven: Davis and Wooster, 2:40. Title: "But even worse is to follow, and on April 26 Davis and Wooster dive to their deaths in a swamp near Langley Field, Va." The camera shows footage of the wrecked plane flipped upside down. Segment eight: Nungesser and Coli, 2:49. Title: "Tragedy follows and on May 8 France's heroes, Captains Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli, fly from Paris and disappear, never, it is feared, to be heard from again." A man in uniform talks to someone off camera. Two men (one wearing an eyepatch) smile for the camera. The two pilots get into the airplane. A group of men watch as the plane takes off the ground. Segment nine: "Kid" of 25, 3:17. Title: "The 'kid' of 25 calmly announces that he intends to try to fly his plane, The spirit of St. Louis, across the ocean alone!" Charles Lindbergh prepares for his flight. Title: "One of his last acts is to bid his equally courageous mother good-bye, and hear her comforting words, 'My boy always accomplishes what he sets out to do'" Charles Lindbergh stands next to his mother. Title: "Then, like a bolt from the blue, he suddenly makes up his mind to go and the world wakes up on the morning of May 20 to hear that he is on his way." Segment ten: Charles Lindbergh's takeoff, 3:56. A group of men push the airplane down the runway. It is dark outside. A man pours something (gas/oil) into the plane. Lindbergh stands by his airplane "The Spirit of St. Louis" and talks to a group of men. He shakes a man's hand. Lindbergh gets into the airplane. Segment eleven: Lindbergh's departure, 4:17. Title: "And he is off! Over soggy ground the monoplane careens and bounds until it seems that this brave boy will be dashed to pieces at the very outset. The plane takes off in a field. The plane struggles to takeoff before it finally lifts off the ground. Title: "But this time Fate is kind, and into the morning mists he rises and speeds forth on the most daring venture in all the world's history" The camera shows Lindbergh's plane flying through the sky. Segment twelve: Lindbergh's landing, 5:10. Title: "Lindbergh's Triumph Paris- 30,000 greet flyer as he completes his epochal flight. A KINOGRAMS SPECIAL." A group of people run towards the plane as it lands. Segment thirteen: U.S. Embassy, 5:15. Title: "At the U.S. Embassy." A crowd watches Lindbergh stand on the balcony of the United States embassy with President Doumergue of France. Title: "France's highest honor: President Doumergue awards him the Cross of the Legion of Honor." Lindbergh stands next to officials where the Cross of the Legion of Honor pinned on his jacket. Segment fourteen: Nungesser's mother, 5:38. Title: "One of Lindbergh's first acts was to visit the mother of the ill-fated Nungesser." Lindbergh poses in front of the Spirit of St. Louis. Segment fifteen: Lindbergh's honors, 5:52. Title: "Belgium and England Heap Honors on Lindbergh. Paris- After week of homage France says 'Au revoir' to heroic flier as he hops off for Brussels." The Spirit of St. Louis takes off. Segment sixteen: In Belgium, 6:07. Title: "Lindbergh arrives at Evere field, airport of the Belgian capital." Lindbergh's plane flies above Evere field. A marching band plays and a large crowds waits for Lindbergh. Lindbergh lands the plane. Segment seventeen: Lindbergh honors soldier, 6:20. Title: "Air king's homage to Belgium's Unknown soldier." There is a memorial for the unknown soldier. Men in uniform salute the memorial. Lindbergh stands in front of the memorial to pay his respects. Segment eighteen: Belgian palace, 6:31. "After the King and Queen of the Belgians received him at the Palace." Thousands of people stand outside of the palace in Belgium. Segment nineteen: England, 6:39. Title: "Frenzied throng of 150,000 sweep police aside to greet Lindbergh at Croydon." Lindbergh lands his plane as thousands of people watch from the field. The crowd begins running toward Lindbergh. Lindbergh stands on a balcony and speaks to the crowd through a megaphone. The crowd cheers. Segment twenty: United States Embassy in London, 7:09. Title: "At the American Embassy in London." Lindbergh gets out of a car at the American Embassy. A large crowd forms. Lindbergh stands facing the crowd. Segment twenty-one: Washington D.C., 7:29. Title: "Nation's leaders first in homage to America's hero of the air upon his return from France." The camera films a large ship passing through the ocean. Title: "On board the U.S.S. Memphis nearing America." Lindbergh gets off the U.S.S. Memphis and poses in front of a crowd cheering for him. Title: "Up the Potomac to Washington." The U.S.S. Memphis continues traveling up the Potomac River. Title: "The Memphis arrives at the Navy Yard." The camera films an aerial view of the Memphis on the Potomac. A crowd of people wave as the Memphis pulls in. "Reunited with his mother." A man in uniform walks Lindbergh's mother up the ramp to the Memphis. Title: "Treads again the soil of his native land only three weeks after his world-thrilling feat." Lindbergh walks down the ramp. He greets people in the crowd. Segment twenty-three: Pennsylvania Avenue, 8:38. Title: "The ride of triumph down Pennsylvania Avenue." Lindbergh rides in a car down Pennsylvania Avenue. Crowds line both sides of the street. Men in uniform march behind the car. Segment twenty-four: President Coolidge, 8:49. Title: "Then to the Washington Monument for his presentation to President Coolidge." The car pulls up to a large ceremony. Title: "The proudest moment of his life. The President awards him the Distinguished Flying Cross." Thousands of people in the crowd cheer. An American flag waves in the wind. Title: "Finis." Black slug. Segment twenty-five: River, 9:40. The camera films a river. A woman stands looking down at the river. A woman walks toward the camera. The camera films a columned building. People ride a boat down the river. A monkey eats a banana. Segment twenty-six: Dogs, 10:50. A cat and a German Shepherd play together. The German Shepherd plays with a monkey next to its doghouse. A woman plays fetch with the German Shepherd. Segment twenty-seven: Circus parade, 11:55. Men ride horses. Men are playing trumpets.
