- Description:
- Boxwood Acres was built between 1830-1835. Also called the Ferrell-Holder house, it is a one-story Greek Revival Cottage. The main floor is supported by hand hewn beams. The portico features four fluted Roman Doric columns and a pilastered entry of double front doors with sidelights and transom. Hardwood floors, high ceilings, original mantels and moldings, a gracious floor plan and beautiful boxwood gardens are just a few of the fine features of this beautiful old home. The convenient in-town location is in the Vernon Road historic district. The home was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
