- The Georgia Railroad was part of the Georgia Railroad & Banking Company. It was one of the strongest bank in Georgia for many years and purchased controlling interests in the Atlanta & West Point Railroad (A&WP) and the Western Railway of Alabama (WofA). This provided direct service from Augusta, via Atlanta, to LaGrange and Montgomery.
